I am really interested in the IBM T42 laptop but i can not seem to find a good deal on it anywhere. In the US there is a 25% discount but in Canada there is not a thing that i know about.

So, im asking for your guys help with this on where to find some good prices for IBM's in Canada. If it helps im a Student for an education discount and i dont know an IBM employee.

So far i have seen futureshop have a T42 with the SXGA and 9600 for 1899 at this link http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pr...angid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10062656&catid=22533. There should be better deals then this for "older" technology

    Thanks

The T42 really isn't much cheaper, because there isn't much of a performance gap between the T42 and T43 at all. In fact, with the radeon 9600, graphics performance is actually better on the T42. I think there's a visa discount in Canada for 10% for buying from the IBM site, besides that, unless you can find an EPP discount, your more or less out of luck. I really wouldn't bet on saving money on a T42 because of it being 'older' technology though :p

The sales are not the same, both the subject models and the savings for each model are dramatically different.

IBM(Lenovo) really needs to redo its website because it is very difficult to find different models and compare why one model is more then the other

Might want to look on ebay. There are many new sealed in the box T42 available if you can find someone who will ship up there, but I don't know if it will be less expensive than FutureShop by the time you pay the taxes and duties.

I am also looking at the T series and live in Canada. I find the FS prices to be quite expensive. The visa promotion looks good, but I don't think you can get the $99 3yr warrenty option (as advertised in the paper for their back to school sale).

How does one find the educational prices?
