I am very impressed by the X220, at least on paper. I am really interested in buying this laptop for college and travel. Can someone please advise on how real the issues are. Particularly the following:

Fan constantly on / revving up and down
    Cpu throttling
    Ghosting on IPS screen
    Brightness Keys Fail after Hibernate

I also posted this on lenovo forums but I think I will get a better response here.

I have been really lucky, my fan is basically silent 90% of the time. My IPS has no issues. I don't Hibernate, so... I have switched to my spare 90W adapter, so my CPU throttling issue has gone away. But you CAN expect throttling issues with the i7 and the 65W adapter.

Thanks for the feedback. Have you installed an mSATA SSD?

I installed an mSata (intel 310 80gb). I use the 7200 320gb as a backup/storage. The computer is just stupid fast now. Click on a program, it opens almost instantly... even Photoshop CS4. I'm actually real happy with this computer. Once they figure out the pulsing issue (hopefully soon) I'll have no complaints. With the mSata (and HDD idle timer set to 30 sec) the computer idles (mine at least) around 1-1.5 watts lower.

What's your average idle wattage now?
