I need to know what to do in my situation. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

My canceled order has been shipped and is "in transit". Lenovo reps said that after 3 attempted delivery, if no one is home, it will be sent to the warehouse=return center in NC. They gave me a RMA#, even though I'm not going to be home to receive the order. They said I'll get credit back" in 8-10 business days", which, according to others' experience, is highly doubtful.

My problem is that I have wanted to place a new order by the end of today (Tailormade expires today). I spent hours yesterday configuring and looking for discounts/promotions. But I don't want to risk paying for the new order before getting the first one's refund back. What also worries me is that when the order gets back to the warehouse, it will have no label with RMA# (since I won't even have my hands on it). I fear it will take a loooong time for them to sort it out and finally credit back to me (I hope the laptop won't get lost!!!).

What's the best for me to do now?

Has anyone placed new order before being credited back for the canceled order? How much troubles should I expect?

    Thanks a lot in advance!

Perhaps 8 - 10 business days after the package has been returned, received, and acknowledged by their receiving department. (Which could take 3 - 5 more business days just for that!) At that rate you could be staring down till the end of the 2nd week of August till you receive the credit back to your card. Unless you really can't help it, waiting 3 days for 3 failed delivery attempts won't speed up the process, so you need to make an attempt to receive that package and get the ball rolling with Lenovo on this issue.

Ideally you should be already talking to a supervisor (not front line customer service.) about this issue and having someone take personal charge of this screw up on their part. Since you're receiving the cancelled order laptop already, the card has already been charged or will be in the next 24-48 hours. So the funds you wanted to use to re-purchase the laptop are more then likely gone. (unless of course you have a high enough credit limit to hold two laptop purchases). If you place another order tonight, Lenovo's Card Services Dept. will review your order tomorrow morning (EST) and will want to pre-auth the card for this new purchase. If they try to pre-auth for the full amount and you don't have that much left on the card, this could problematic for you depending on how in-depth Card Services checks the card for funds.

As Lenovo's NC sales and support is just about closed for the day, hopefully you've gotten ahold of someone who can work as your point of contact on this RMA. But I wouldn't count on those funds they just charged to be there for your card's pre-auth tomorrow.

If you want to try and contact Lenovo's Card Services directly, their number is: 1-800-426-3325. But their hours of operations is the same as the North Carolina's Billing and Administrative Support number (1-866-42THINK). But everytime I tried to call Card Services, I just got a recording telling me that they are experiencing higher then average call volume and to leave my name and number for a return call (which I never got).

However I'd still start with Customer Service first tomorrow, and get a path going on what to do from there.

    Good Hunting.

Maybe we should all cancel our orders, then they might ship.

I will highly suggest you receive the first package. Without opening it, and put your UPS lable and the RMA#, send it to NC, other than let it ship to NC after 3 times attemp.

If you get an RMA# and you didn't open the box, you surely will get your full credit back.

And I am wondering that even you order a new one today, since Lenovo won't charge your credit card after shipping, whether you can get the tailormade discount.

There's always that! And from what I understand if you bought an extended warranty it follows the machine, not the owner. so that's a nice perk to include on your auction description. :)

Thank you so much for your advice and the information! It's a T61 btw.

Looks like things are not as simple as the reps told me. A supervisor is supposed to call me today but so far I haven't got any call.

Good point about Tailormade--do they count the date of order or date of charge?

I originally ordered a t61 on july 16, and ordered another one on july 20 to use the discount.

I cancelled the first one, and the rep told me, in the situation the 1st get shipped out, call them to obtain a return number and ups label, do not open it and sent it back. though the actually cancelled it before it gets shipped. my suggestions is: make sure they put a cancle request on that order to avoid any future confusion, take the shippment and request a return number and shipping label, do not open it and sent it back. I think, by this way, you will get ur credit back.
