I received my P50 a couple of days ago and was just turned off by its horrible display. It baffles me that Lenovo continues to use terrible displays.
I have never bought a replacement screen before and so I'm a bit naive in this regard. The P50 comes with LP156WF6-SPK1. The screens that I am considering so far are :
1. LP156WF6-SPB1
2. B156HAN01.2
Please help me make an informed decision.
Thank you.

A member on a Chinese forum, who owns a P50 , has installed panel LP156WF6-SPB1 on his P50 and claims to have experienced no issues afterwards. About 3 days ago (Wednesday), I placed an order from a UK eBay seller (notebookspares) for this exact panel as it has been proven to work. This panel has a color gamut of 72% NTSC and 300nits of brightness. Instead, the seller sent the panel LP156WF4-SPL1 which has a color gamut of 45% NTSC and 220nits of brightness. Obviously, that made me lose my faculties and I would have waged a war if we were still living in the medieval ages.
1. The eBay listing for the panel I actually ordered says there are are least 10 available in stock.
2. If I had wanted to buy the panel LP156WF4-SPL1, I would've place an order for LP156WF4-SPL1, not some other panel. Why should I accept something I didn't want? It's not like it's been offered to me for free !
3. The panel I'm trying to replace (color gamut of 45% NTSC and 250nits of brightness) has even better specs than the trash they sent me.
4. This is really the one that ticked me off completely. The seller sent me a message saying that they send compatible panels if the one you order are not in stock, and is equivalent to the one you order in every way. In what universe is 72% NTSC and 300nits of brightness equivalent to 45% NTSC and 220nits of brightness ? This is the definition of duplicity and an insult to the intelligence of the buyer. Why do they think people are stupid ?
I will obviously be returning it. I'm not trying to start a collection of garbage laptop displays in my garage or wherever. I started sending other sellers emails inquiring about the availability of the panel, which they have listed as available, before placing an order. Some sellers don't allow you to email them via eBay. I am obviously avoiding those. I've gotten replies from 3 sellers, and to my surprise, all 3 don't have the panel which they have listed as available; a complete contradiction! At this point, I've reached the conclusion that eBay is not a safe place to buy laptop displays; there are simply too many smoke screens, false listings and unscrupulous sellers. However, I still want to replace my display.
Can someone here recommend another website based in the UK that sells genuine panels and sends the one you actually order?
Thanks.
PS: This was after I had ordered the panel.

Please could you let me know if the screen you ordered from ebay.de as per your message in September (above) was in fact delivered as the exact one produced by AU Optronics rather than a "compatible" one? Did you check the sRGB coverage and get over 90% coverage and are happy with the improvement over the stock FHD screen? -

Super, thank you very much for the info! I will get in touch directly and confirm what they have in stock specifically.

@ellalan BTW - did you notice any image retention issue with B156HAN01.2 and are you happy with the sRGB colour coverage being good? The other thing, is that it appears this panel has not been discontinued from the manufacturer according to panelook website. Therefore I would be curious to know if you feel that the panel that you got was in fact new and indeed actually made by AU Optronics?

I will go for the B156HAN01.2.

The LG panel LP156WF6-SPB1 is still being produced and is relatively easy to find. According to this review they found 82% coverage of sRGB: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Acer-Aspire-V-15-Nitro-VN7-572G-72L0-Notebook-Review.153424.0.html
The AU Optronics panel is discontinued so stocks are limited and it is a little hard to find, which may explain why people are choosing the LP156WF6-SPB1
I know it is a little early, given the limited market penetration for now, but do you think that there is any technical/electronic reason why we would not be able to upgrade the Lenovo P50 LCD panels we are discussing to OLEDs, when they become available?
Please aid me in buying a compatible screen for the P50
