Please help me identify my FRU's (I tried searching)

Guys, this is my configuration...can you please tell me what kind of screen and keyboard I have? I tried searching on the lenovo website and checked out the sticky...but it keeps saying part not found on the website...here is my config

i don't think those numbers can tell you, the FRU numbers are on your laptop, or by some weird translation that i'm also lookin gfor.

 

you will need the serial number located at the bottom of your laptop and then your product number which is 6465CTO. Then go to the lenovo website and click on the support and download tab, click on search pc support on left of the screen,then parts information also on the left, then parts lookup under the quick links section enter you product and serial number. you should get all your FRU on the parts used to build your machine. The main point is you need to have your laptop in hand to know the serial number.

 

There is another, faster, way. Once it ships, you can see your serial number on your order page. You can look there for it, then put it in, and you'll know what the parts are

 

I already have the serial number and I put it in the website..however, it still says not found...

 

It took about a day for my serial number to be recognized on the site.

 

Ok..well I know my serial number...how to I find out my 'type' without actually having the physical computer? Thanks

 

The type is 6465. It's the second line from your first post. Just like mine

For some reason the part look up is not working yet for all of us whos laptops just shipped.

Does anyone know if it's lg/samsun and what kind of KB I have..thanks

 

Waaaiitt.. how did you get it to work? I've been trying since yesterday and it's not working for me.

Actually I have no idea, just wanted to scare you for a second.

 

It looks like you have the Chicony/Samsung combo. It seems like a lot of people are getting that recently. When mine shipped a lot of people were getting Alps/LG. I guess it depends on what they get in. Supposedly Chicony/Samsung is the worst combo.

One thread even mentioned that 42X4641 is the Samsung WSXGA+ on the T60 which would be a huge downgrade from what the LG is. I think it's rated at 200 nits whereas the newer screens are 220 nits. I don't know for certain though, it's hard to find any search results on the 42X4641 FRU. I suspect I have the same on my laptop even though I can't check =/.

If that's the case, there's a very reasonable assumption that the reason so many of our WSXGA+ laptops are shipping is because someone gave the go ahead to fill the orders using the older T60 screens.

 

I was getting that yesterday, but today it seemed to work, maybe they just updated it in their system

 

oh that blows...so is a samsung/chicony combo really that bad?

It's not hype, it's genuine speculation. I remember someone posting a few good things about the Samsung screen compared to the LG. He made it sound like they had different weaknesses and strengths. I think in the T61 specs they have the LCD rated as 220 nits, so if you get the T60 200 nits screen then I would return it demanding that they waive the restocking fee and send you a new one with the proper screen.

On another note a lot of the **** you see flying around about the Samsung screen is for the 14.1" version. There is a big difference between the 14.1" screens and the 15.4" screens. I'm going to go try to find the thread on the Samsung vs. LG 15.4" screens as it had a very good analysis and really made me not care which I got. After that I got the LG screen and I really liked it besides a dead pixel and two stuck pixels. I'm going to go search for that thread now...

I tried to find it but I can't. Anyone else remember it? It was something posting his comparative thoughts on both screens. I think he said the something like the Samsung has a slight blue tint but seemed cleaner. I really don't remember much about it.

 

I tried too..I could only find the 14 inch comparisons..not 15
