I'm thinking of getting a ThinkPad T61. I'm all confused about the different options Levono offers in Canada:
Base warranty
ThinkPlus 1 Year Onsite 9x5x Next Business Day Warranty and Maintenance Option [add $44.00]
1 Year EasyServ + 1 Year ThinkPad Protection for 1 Year EasyServ ThinkPad [add $89.00]
ThinkPlus 4 Year EasyServ Total for 3 Year EasyServ ThinkPad [add $109.00]
ThinkPlus 2 Year EasyServ Total for 1 Year EasyServ ThinkPad [add $129.00]
1 Year Onsite 9x5 Next Business Day + 1 Year ThinkPad Protection for 1 Year EasyServ ThinkPad [add $134.00]
ThinkPlus 2 Year Onsite 9x5 Next Business Day Warranty and Maintenance Option [add $204.00]
ThinkPlus 3 Year EasyServ Total for 1 Year EasyServ ThinkPad [add $209.00]
2 Year EasyServ + 2 Year ThinkPad Protection for 1 Year EasyServ ThinkPad [add $279.00]
ThinkPlus 3 Year Onsite 9x5 Next Business Day Warranty and Maintenance Option [add $299.00]
ThinkPlus 4 Year EasyServ Total for 1 Year EasyServ ThinkPad [add $329.00]
2 Year Onsite 9x5 Next Business Day + 2 Year ThinkPad Protection for 1 Year EasyServ ThinkPad [add $354.00]
ThinkPlus 4 Year Onsite 9x5 Next Business Day Warranty and Maintenance Option [add $454.00]
ThinkPlus 5 Year EasyServ Total for 1 Year EasyServ ThinkPad [add $484.00]
ThinkPlus 5 Year Onsite 9x5 Next Business Day Warranty and Maintenance Option [add $654.00]
Here is my situation. If I decide to pick one up, I'll order it from within Canada. However, I'm gonna leave Canada before the end of 2008 and move somewhere else. That means I either need some sort of world wide protection or I just take the risk and go with the base warranty.
Now regarding this confusing list, it's not only the terms that puzzle me but also things that don't seem to make sense:
ThinkPlus 4 Year EasyServ Total for 3 Year EasyServ ThinkPad [add $109.00]
ThinkPlus 2 Year EasyServ Total for 1 Year EasyServ ThinkPad [add $129.00]
Why would the second option be more expensive than the first one???? If it's meant in a way that I can upgrade from 3 to 4 years (first option) and, respectively, 1 to 2 years (second option), why do I even get to choose the second option??? The base warranty is only 1 year...

never noticed that. It might be a mistake.

I found this list:
http://www.pc.ibm.com/ca/think/services/ThinkPlus_Product_Matrix.pdf
According to the part number of the T61 I'm thinking of (6459), the ThinkPlus 4 Year EasyServ Total for 3 Year EasyServ ThinkPad option is applicable. I'm still confused why the base warranty is a "1 Year Depot/Express Warranty" not "3 Year Depot/Express Warranty".... I also need to find out where this service is valid. -
According to
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/s....do?type=6459&x=0&y=0&iws=on&sitestyle=lenovo
model T61 (6459) is not covered in Europe but in North America and Asia only.
What I'm really puzzled about is the time period of the base warranty. It says
- 1 Year Depot/Express Warranty
when customizing it on their website but in the ThinkPlus Services Product Matrix
http://www.pc.ibm.com/ca/think/services/ThinkPlus_Product_Matrix.pdf
model T61 (6459) shows 3 years EZS as warranty. What is it now, 1 or 3 years???? -
interesting. where did you find this list..

EDIT: nevermind, I was able to find it by searching for Thinkplus on the lenovo canada site -
