Hello, I purchased a y500 with an i7-3630qm, 750m (will upgrade to sli), 8gb ram, and 1 tb hdd. My shipment won't be here for another few weeks so that gives me time to make a decision. I have heard of numerous issues with the y500 such as the trackpad, keyboard, micro stuttering, bad wifi card, and lack of being able to use the hd4000 on battery/ low gpu clock speeds on battery for gaming. I talked to a lenovo tech today and he assured me that ALL of these issues have been resolved including the prior lack of using the igp on battery to save power. Is this true? Can someone with the y500 comment on the recent 750m refresh? I will be using this laptop for some school (maybe some computer classes) and also gaming ( Assassin's Creed 4, Wings of Prey, Warthunder, NBA 2k13 modded, Il-2 Cliffs of Dover, Skyrim and Oblivion modded, etc.). Should I stick with the one I bought for $819.99? Or should I get the gx60 with the 8970m and a10-5750m even though it is cpu bottlenecked? What about a y510p? Any input is appreciated. I had another thread, but no one responded, so I posted it in here with the Lenovo enthusiasts.

I think I may be leaning towards keeping the y500. Can anyone tell me what happened in the "750m refresh?" Also what are the real world differences between the y500 and y510p?

i think it's the y510p that has optimus and uses hd 4600 igpu. this was discussed in another thread. forgot which one. :)

you should also consider the size and weight of the gx60. it's way thicker and heavier than the y500 or y510p, since you said you will also be using it in school. if that's ok with you, and if you are just gonna game and will not be doing any cpu intensive applications, then go for for gx60. we still don't know the exact performance of the new a10 apu, i'm guessing it's around the same as an i3 haswell.

I'm not sure whether or not I will be doing cpu intensive applications or not yet, however the gx60 is ugly and really thick, but is probably better at most games than y510p 750m sli. I wouldn't think by much though? I'm going to try my y500 out, see what has been changed, see if it has optimus like the reps have told me, and go from there.
