The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

Please move the X1 Carbon threads here

I think the title says it all. The X1 Carbon is going to be a mainstream machine and should be in the heart of this forum.

Right. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon is no "ThinkPad Edge." As X301, X200, X201, X220 and X230 are discussed here, so is X1 Carbon.

I'd rather see a fresh new thread: X1 Carbon Owners Thread.

Does anyone know how to create poll? I would have added it to this message but I don't see how to do it.

In my eyes, all Thinkpads should be in the same forum. One of the reasons why it was split up was that people said the Edge, X1 and cheaper Thinkpads were not "traditional" Thinkpads. Seeing that Lenovo no longer makes any "traditional" Thinkpads, why still split them up?

This issue has already been brought up, and is currently under discussion by Lenovo moderators. If you take a look around at other Lenovo/Thinkpad forums, you'll see various ways of how people believe it should be divided. And as mentioned before when this issue was last brought up, there is more to consider than "all Thinkpads are more or less the same now, let's bunch them all together": user traffic, threads getting quickly buried, ease of moderation, etc.

Bunching all in one forum probably doesn't make sense. What we have today doesn't make sense either.

I would suggest a sub forum for the T series. One for the W series. One for the X series. After that, I don't much care because those are the three that drive the most traffic here.

Now is the time to do it. Before the models really start shipping in force, and before Windows 8 comes out. I would imagine the X1 and everything else is going to drive an explosion of questions and issues so I'd get ahead of the tidal wave.

I'd add that when all is said and done here, I'd be happy if the X1(C) were included in the X-Series family... Since it's not an Edge after all...

Simplest solution would be for the mods to just move that thread here.
