    Hi all,

Just curious if I got a good price on the T400. I'm suspecting these puppies will get cheaper fairly soon and I can wait for price to drop (~a month is okay), but since my order hasn't shipped yet, do you feel the price will drop enough to justify canceling this order?

Will any of the TopSeller configurations come close to this price/configuration? Anyone of these TopSellers have WXGA+ LED screen (this is a must for me)?

Also, looking for feedback on the configured system - anything you would add/remove? The main reason to me to upgrade is less heat, brighter/more evenly lit screen and the switchable graphics - otherwise T61 is just fine for me.

    Thanks....

T400 - comes out to $1,250 including tax

    Processor: P8400 (2.26 GHz)
    OS: Windows Vista Home
    Screen: 14.1 WXGA+ w/LED, CAMERA
RAM: 2 GB (2 DIMMS >> don't plan on upgrading anytime soon. Waiting for cheaper DDR3 RAM instead of shelling out $$$ for a single stick)
HDD: 80GB >> plan on upgrading to 250/320 GB later on.
    Optical Drive: DVD+/-RW
Wireless options: Bluetooth, WiFi Link 5300 (didn't hear great things about 5100)
Video: AMD M82XT HYBRID 256MB (the discrete one)
    Other features: Fingerprint reader
    Battery: 6-cell
    Warranty: 1 year

Not bad including tax. Go ahead and proceed with confidence. That's how much a decent T61 costed back when it was launched.

And of course, the price will drop with time. I think around September was when the price started to drop though for the T61... or did it only feel like that because of the whole Meyer EPP debacle? I forget, sorry.

Thanks admlam & yn1997 - any other takers?

Also, just wanted to confirm how long is Lenovo's price protection/pricematch policy? I'm hearing 21 days? Is it x days from the day the system is shipped or when it's ordered?

From what I've read here - you simply have to configure a system with the exact same specs and 'convert it to quote' at checkout and provide that quote along with the original order number to a sales rep for a pricematch.

Lenovo sales rep always says the "x days" gonna be 2-3 weeks from the date you placed your order. Imo I dont think the price is going to drop in a month or two since the direct competitors'(E6400/elitebook etc.) prices are almost same to T400/T500.

Good laptop at a good price.
By the way, the E6400 is more expensive than the T400, I just configured them both. Also, E6400 ram is slower.

And the 14.1" T61 is no longer on lenovo.com -- guess that seals the deal unless he wants to buy preconfigured or something from the Outlet.

great price drop! Looks like lenovo refreshes their website on Tuesday's - now on to a pricematch. Anyone have had luck before in pricematching ?

In b/w, ~$215 price drop - that's a lot of change!! Thanks folks, stuck with T400 order and dropped the idea of a T61.
