I know the NVS 140M is not a gaming card and I know it's an entry level card, however, I expected slightly better performance from games that are 2-3 years old. I have no intention of playing the latest games on this laptop.
I am playing Call of Duty 2 on my new 14.1" T61 widescreen with T9300 processor, 4GB of RAM, and NVS 140M video card and am averaging somewhere between 10-20 frames per second. I sometimes peak above 20 frames per second but I never hit 30.
I am running at the default graphics settings with the exception of the resolution which I initially maxed out to 1440x900. I then brought down the resolution to 1280x800 and saw a bit improvement in frame rates.
Are these frame rates I'm reporting normal or should I be expecting better performance from this card in this game?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

that's actually a workstation card.. optimized for openGL. find some drivers that improve dx and you should see an improvement.

search the forums instead of the main page and read the instructions on how to install. -
Hmm thats odd. I can play games like Oblivion on medium settings perfectly fine on my t61 (t7300, 2 gig ram, nvs140m)

I'm using the drivers from lenovo. Havn't updated in like a month though.
-
Have you optimized your Windows Install in anyway? what else are you running? Vista or XP Pro?
-
I'm running Vista Home Premium. -
I'm going to load Crysis just to see if my screen melts! I have a T8300 with the same card as you. I bet it won't even run.

Crysis demo worked on mine.... Low settings and it was lagging like crazy.

I was getting around 2000 points in 3dmark06 with my setup and a heavily OC'ed NVS 140m with XP Pro SP2 clean install and ATITool as the OC'ing utility.
Tweak it around a lil bit and do your software correctly and you should get decent performance for this little card. -

I've been having problems with games ever since I had to get my laptop repaired when the fan died. I don't know if the tech guys at the depot put some type of failsafe on my videocard because when it runs hot like when I'm playing Warhammer 40k the laptop just shuts off. Trying ATITool to see if it'll help, wish me luck.

Hmmm....it says virtual testing is disabled? I'm using Vista Home Premium.
How do I "enable the monitor output of the card"? -
It's been awhile since I did it, sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Just start with fresh XP install, use 169.04 drivers, ATITool, cant remember much else, sorry. -
I just ran a benchmark test with 3DMark05 and got a score of 2792. Is this a normal score for a T61 with a T9300 processor, 4GB of RAM (3GB seen by 32bit OS), Vista Home Premium, and NVS 140M video card?

I changed the settings in Call of Duty 2 from DirectX 9 to DirectX 7 and now I am experiencing framerates on average between 40 and 60 frames per second, yet the graphics look just as good or almost just as good as in DirectX 9.
For the record, I have all graphic settings maxed out and I am still able to get these excellent framerates!
I'm not more than satisfied with the performance. Thanks for everyones help. -
Have you tried 3DMark06?
T61p is the Thinkpad to have right now for decent gaming.
Poor gaming performance on T61 with NVS 140M
