Hi!
The following happend to me:
I shutdown Windows 7 x64 but something prevented Windows from shutting down. So I hold the power button for a hard power off. After restarting I got a black screen and Windows 7 not starting. I rebooted and used SeaTool 2.x to check my Seagate Momentus 7200RPM/500GB drive. The test completed and found one error - some sector at LBA xxxxxx being defective. I let the software repair it and then rechecked the drive and the there were no errors. Now I could also boot normally into Windows 7 again.
My question is if that is a common error? Is it safe to continue using that drive - I am not very experienced when it comes to HDD errors and problems. I just don't want to have that happen in a few days/weeks again and then maybe I can't backup my data. This time it went well and everything seems to be fixed but I am not sure. Would Lenovo exchange the drive even though it now seems to be repaired? I am still covered by ThinkPlus warranty.
Thanks in advance!

You can install Thinkvantage Toolbox. As far as I know, Lenovo Support only trusts this tool. If it shows that your HDD is defective, you'll probably get a new one

why you're so angry with it? I found it somewhat useless, but in your case, it's quite useful.

haha, but you can use only its report as a proof, that's all.
Possible HDD failure?
