    Hello everyone

I had a part replaced on my laptop this afternoon and just noticed a crack on the case. It extends from the top right corner of the LCD to the edge of the casing. I'm sure it wasn't there beforehand, but have no proof that it wasn't there (I don't periodically take pictures of my computer or anything). I suspect it was due to the technician putting stress on the system when replacing the part as he had to flip the computer over to open up the case. Anyone with any advice on how to proceed if they don't believe me that it's technician induced? Thanks everyone

Do you have a means to contact the technician? You could just always ask them and they might own up to accidentally damaging it and just fix it for you as well.

i personally had experiences with very incompetent technicians at the depot... whom cracked the case in the way you described, scratched the LCD screen, cracked the LCD bezel and bezel around the keyboard, and god knows which other parts of the laptop to just change a hinge, and the hinge they replaced it with had so much writing on it, i thought they used it as a drawing board. My T60 experienced similar torments to the bottom case when they changed the fan.... and when they returned it to me, the palmrests was not even fitted properly, which is the second time it had happened.

I told the case manager for that depot company that his technicians were very incompetent, and shouldn't even go near laptops or even think about touching it, until they can actually read and comprehend instructions and check their finished work, before giving their tick of approval.

    Finished ranting...

For you, you should call Lenovo service and get your case escalated to the customer service satisfaction officer to look at your warranty case. That is how i dealt with this sort of problem on my T60 and T61, and they have been quite helpful and understanding on this matter. But they can be slow to call you back due to the work load and mental pressure from the unhappy customers they deal day in day out, in which case you should call the warranty department and inquire about the progress of the case investigation

thanks for the tips. i ended up calling the atlanta call center and they offered to replace the casing where the crack is. they also promised not to send that technician over again which is good. i hope nothing else happens as i thought on-site repair would keep me away from these nightmare situations.
