Hi
I have an x60s and in most cases I don't even bring the power-brick but just use the battery troughout the day and then charge it when I come home.
That means that whenever I charge the battery it might just as well take 12 hours instead of the 2-3 it takes now. And since recharging the battery slowly is supposed (as far as I know) to extend the batterylife that would be desirable.
Also it woud relieve some stress on the power-brick (which, in my opinion, gets unnessesarily hot). Although thats just a bonus and not the reason for why I would want to do this.
I believe that LG shipps an application (atleast with some notebooks) that allows you to change the speed that the battery is recharged.
Wondering if such an app exists for any notebook (or atleast lenovos/x60s), anyone knows anything about that?

You are correct that slower charging is somewhat beneficial, by default Lenovo uses a generally slower charge than the rest of the manufacturers though (some complain glacially slow) so I'm not sure if an even slower trickle charge would help you.
FYI, I asked ThinkPad product designer about offering an "Express Charge" in the future like Dell uses on their notebooks, but the answer was "no" because they know that fast-charging can warp the battery cells and shorten battery life. Honestly though, when you're in a pinch at the airport and just really need to charge fast before getting on the next flight, a faster charge option would be nice even if you know it's not great for the battery. As far as I know though there's not a way to change this setting and I don't know of any application that can, the Power Manager does allow you to toggle when recharges take place and to what level, but no "fast" versus "slow" is there. -
Agree, I don't think I'd ever have use for an "express charge" but an option wouldn't hurt. Just inform that it will decrease the life-span of the battery.
But the possibility to charge slower would only have benefits (not counting the charge time).
Also since thte x60s gets quite hot while charging an slower charge would probably make it run cooler.
Possible to recharge slower?
