I have an R61, and stupid me, ordered it with the PC-Card/Smart Card Reader instead of the ExpressCard. I am not sure if this is something built into the motherboard, or if this is something I can source the module for, and (probobly voiding warranty), replace with the ExpressCard module? Let me know if this sounds stupid, or if anyone has actually done this. I can't believe I bought it without ExpressCard. What was I thinking!!!

I don't know about that but I know you can buy an adapter. It simply slides into the PCMCIA slot and it allows you to put in an express card. Hope that helps.

Yeah but the adapter would not have the speed of a true ExpressCard bus if I recall. Still that is an option yeah.

The part is replaceable, but you will need to practically dismantle the whole computer. Look up the Hardware Maintenance Manual (HMM) for your machine type. You will find the part number and the directions. And yes, they will void your warranty.

I wonder if a 3rd party "certified"? retailer, or even lenovo, can upgrade that for me? Would probobly cost a small fortune i guess in the end...
