I used to have a z61t with integrated graphics that came with a 65w power adapter in september 2006 (FRU 92P1160) that is really small and i love it.
i also bought a 90w AC/DC combo adapter in august 2006 (FRU 40Y7656) that i would hook up to my docking station at home, so that i could use the tiny 65w when i travel.

my z61t broke down last month and i replaced it with a t400 (with discrete graphics) that came with a 90w brick that is bigger than the 65w of the z61t but smaller than the ac/dc adapter.

my question is: can i use any of the above adapters with my new t400?

i have heard different things and i want to get things cleared up. can my new t400 support the 65w charger and if so, will it affect my battery lifespan? can i use the old 95w ac/dc combo adapter? does the age of the two old adapters factor in? somebody told me that 65w is only for integrated graphics but i'm not sure. i just need some clarifications because i don't want to buy new adapters because they are pricey.

if i do need to buy a new one (i want two), should i get them off of lenovo's website or are there cheaper sources?

If you plug in the 65W adapter and it does work, it's likely that the battery will charge really slowly, or maybe the graphics card will downclock to minimise power usage...

I would look at the current input and output written on the 65W and 90W adapters and that should probably tell you if it can handle the load from your T400.

Might wanna make sure your on integrated graphics when using the 65w instead of the ATi graphics. That is the reason for the 65w versus 90w adapters and how they are distributed.
