So I was taking a gander at my power cord today and it was splitting in two places right above the power brick. All the insulation is gone, it literally looks like a hotdog that has been in the microwave too long and has split open. Has this happened to anyone else and what is the cause, i dont wrap the cable so absurdly taught to make it do this.

If that's the cord coming from the wall to the power brick that is a serious problem.

    Is it a cat?

    How bizzare.

No... its the expensive one, the one from the brick to the laptop. And it couldn't be my cat no teeth marks anywhere and he knows better.

Geez. How long have you had your power supply?

You should definitely report this to Lenovo.

    1. My laptop is my only computer.

    2. I dont have the money to have it replaced right now.

    3. I cant go without my laptop for the potential weeks required in me shipping them the old one and recieving the new one.

I thought they usually send you the new equipment and then have you send the defective one back when you receive the new one? And if they need pictures beforehand, you can email your rep.

Sounds like a job for the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Thanks, I'll keep an eye on mine; it looks a little weird, but no splitting yet.

It's like the result that you've PULLED your cable hardly/quickly through a gap between your table edge and wall or an opened hole on a table top.

You may choose to rip Lenovo off for a new replacement or take your own responsibility and buy a new one.

Yeah. A power cable cord cracks up like that without any misuse. It's because it's Lenovo. :)

If you look closely to the pic it appears that the cable was somehow pinched and rolled like if it was caught under furniture or between furniture and the wall. You can actually see some rubbing marks on the still intact part of the cable.
