I am running windows XP sp3 on a T60. I have a problem where power manager will not open. The program and the FN+F3 window come up with a windows error message when launched. The battery gauge still comes up, but is only partially functional. The error from the event viewer is below.
EventType clr20r3, P1 pwmui.exe, P2 1.0.0.0, P3 49261717, P4 presentationframework, P5 3.0.0.0, P6 4bb2dd31, P7 59fb, P8 17, P9 system.typeinitialization, P10 NIL.
Recently I had to roll back to a backup from a few years ago. I was getting sporadic error messages from power manager about no battery connected, or battery error. I had gotten these in the past and upgrading power manger solved the problem.
After upgrading to the current version (1.89) of power manager I have the problem described above. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. I also tried installing an older version of the software (1.51a) located on lenovo's website but it has the same problem. Also tried upgrading to the newest release of .net framework.
Has anybody else encountered and solve this problem? or know how to fix it? Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

Have you tried re-installing the Microsoft .NET framework?
Download details: Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Web Installer) -
Yes, didn't seem to change anything.

This is a very similar report, but alas, with no solution.
I'm assuming the problem is not limited to Power Manager?
WPF applications crash on startup
Power Manager and XP SP3
