I know I know, but the fact is I have used both and my ebay PS's are just as good as a OEM PS's from lenovo. The Lenovo chargers are outsourced as with all laptop PS. I have even tested with my volt meter ebay PS and there's no difference that I have found. The reason I ask is when I went to charge my X220 with a 9cell it was taking for ever to charge so I switched off to my 90w power supply to get things charged up faster. I even contacted support to make sure that this was indeed an ok thing to do which they said it was, I knew it was but always nice to have on record just incase.

How many of you are using a PS you bought off of ebay to power your laptops?

ETA I'm not talking about the 1 dollar PS junk, were talking about ones that look just like our bricks and cost around
    15 to 25 bucks.

well the power adapters that Lenovo sells are produced by reputable companies like ASTEC, Lite-on, Delta, etc, many of the chargers that is sold on ebay maybe produced by unknown contract manufacturers whom may not produce to the same quality.

If you are in US, why not go to the outlet.lenovo.com and see whether there is any of them within your price range.

Why penny pinch when it comes to something like the power adapter, if you can afford 25 dollars, why not add a few more dollars and get a real one?

Also look on ebay for genuine Lenovo PSUs at attractive prices. I've just got a spare PSU which seems to be a slightly older model (it's slightly larger than the one that came with my T420s) but it works fine. However, the attraction of the third party PSUs is that some had a Fig-8 mains connector which means a thinner and lighter mains cable.

    I've bought chargers off eBay. For a genuine one it's maybe $25 for a 65w or $30 for a 90w.

to lead. why buy brand when the only difference is the lack of Lenovo logo? in fact there's one on there for 6 bucks. its the same one powering my x61 now. same size same specs via a volt meter and longer warranty. I actually wasn't even going to bring this one up but at that cost vs 60 bucks its hard to turn down as long as it checks out and that really is the key to all this. I certainly would not just buy one and use it even a brand one without testing it first. back in the day 90s ya but these days there's a whole to them if open one up.

I recently bought four 90W power supplies on eBay Canada that were marked as "IBM" power supplies with the picture showing as such. I was particularly careful to look at the picture and even emailed the seller because the "wall socket to adapter" piece was not in the picture. When I got them, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they were OEM Lenovo's. They were $9 plus $11 shipping which worked out to $20 each.

    Great deal.

Used OEM ones cost that much.

Would you really risk your system to a fried motherboard to save 10 dollars on a power adapter? I see it all the time, fried motherboards due to cheapo 3rd party AC adapters. Batteries and AC adapters are 2 things I buy OEM.

The ones I bought were definitely brand new. At $55 plus tax plus shipping, I almost bought four for the price of one.
