Is the "Fn" key supposed to be the only key to press to wake up from standby, or should the machine wake up from standby when you press ANY key? I've got different experiences.

The problem is not that I want to know how to wake it up, but rather, if it wakes up by pressing ANY key, is that not normal? There is some problem with the machine? I believe it shouldn't wake up if you just press the space bar or other keys than the "Fn". Any key has it wake up from screen saver, but not standby.

Nope random keys do not wake up my machine (just tested it for you). Only Fn does. Maybe there is some setting, but I am not familiar with one.

Only Fn, either power button, or removing the pen from the silo work for me.

I haven't tried the Fn key but I know that the "normal" keys do not wake my T400 running XP. I just press the power button.

Thanks for the replies. I think it's a problem. I suppose it actually didn't go into standby, just the screen off.

Re "Fn" key: I didn't know it's for waking up from standby until one day I just happened to look at the Energy Saver sheet the came with new machines and found this (only) useful tip :)

I didn't even know the Fn key wakes a Thinkpad up - I always press the power button. On my old laptop, any key woke up the laptop, but on my T500, no key (except the Fn key, as I just found out ;)) wakes up the laptop from sleep.

I had no idea Fn key woke it up. I have Vista 64 and only the power and Fn key wake it.

I have had other laptops where spacebar woke it. Not lenovo though.

Fn-F4 on my X61 does it for me. Try pressing the sleep button on your ThinkPad - the one with the blue crescent moon. I stumbled upon this when I first saw the blinking crescent moon LED indicator - why not hit the same keys that activate sleep? Viola, it works.
