Prevent Keyboard/Mouse from waking up computer

On my new V100, the lid sometimes hits the keyboard or the mouse keys (I'm not sure which). When it does this, the computer wakes up from sleep. Is there a way to tell Vista not to wake up when the keyboard/mouse buttons are pressed? I've looked in the device manager, but there's no option to turn off that "feature." Any tips?

 

You're almost there. When you're in the device manager you have to right click on the device and in the properties you will see a selection to "Allow this device to wake computer" and just change it to no.

 

Sorry, I should have been more specific. When I use the device manager and look at the properties box for the keyboard and the built-in mouse, there is no "Power Management" tab where I can deselect the "Allow this device to wake up computer" option. The option DOES appear for some other devices like USB mice or the network stuff, but not for the keyboard and built-in mouse. Is there anywhere else I might look?

 

Sorry to go off on a tangent, but lord that is a horrible problem to have. Within a month your display will be permanently etched with the raised outlines of the keyboard

There are plenty of laptops with lids that touch the keys, one one that actually pushes them hard enough to activate them? Ugh.

 

I agree with El Guano. Maybe it's not the keyboard or the mouse but closing the lid. If you go into power management in the control panel you can change the setting for "When I Close The Lid" to "Do Nothing."
