I ordered a T61P a couple days ago using CPP discount, now less than two days later there's a coupon giving an extra 10% off (about $150 in this case). I emailed lenovo about the "price protection" aka price match, and they said to build the order using the new price and quote it, than send them the information AFTER my order is shipped and they will review it. However, my order doesn't ship until 3/3/08 (well that's the estimated date anyway) and the offer ends 2/18/08. Will lenovo honor this price match, or should I just cancel my order? They've already charged my debit account...
-
I thought that they didn't charge the c.card until they shipped the product?
-
That's what I've read from others on this forum, but they definitely charged me within 24 hrs of placing my order, and it's still listed as "in process" on the order status page.
-
They charge you once you place the order. They can't charge you when it is going to ship because the credit card could be declined
-
They only put a hold at order time, charge when ship.

sk7,
"send them the information AFTER my order is shipped and they will review it."
That sounds like Lenovo is not looking out for your best interest.
1st, most likely your shpmt should be 2-7 days from today...don't pay too much attn to their est. ship date, for exp. I ordered my R61 on the 1st and was shipped on the 4th...so yours should ship w/in a wk from today.
2nd, once they shipped your laptop, you'd be tied to their 15% restking fee openned or unopenned...only reason I got out of the restking fee was thanks to BBB.
I advise you to canx asap, and order your new config.
Best of luck.
ps Is your EPP better than the current 20% off? -
one more thing,
"They've already charged my debit account..."
that's a good sign that your laptop is already built or is shipping next day....for mine, they didn't charge my cc until it left their warehouse to UPS for shipment. -
"They charge you once you place the order. They can't charge you when it is going to ship because the credit card could be declined."
sentence two shows error in logic...."the credit card could be declined", if the cc could be declined, then the order would have never gone through.
Here's the steps in Lenovo ordering process (from my experience in order 4 r61, 1st one canx, 2nd and 3rd got cc declined due to inimmediate refund from my 1st order, 4th order got thru w/ a diff. cc.)
1. order placed
2. email confirmation
3. order sent to Lenovo cc dept.
4. cc accept/decline
5a. cc accept: no action
5b. cc decline: sent notice to customer
6. (successful order) email detailing "item shipped"
7. go into hibernation, plant in tree, throw out your outdated cell phone, bake a cake, etc. -
Well you guys were right, it has shipped already (thou tracking not available yet), so they shipped it about a day after they charged me. They said they are now reviewing my 'price protection request', I'll post back with how it goes.
Basically, using CPP by itself is 15% off, this coupon by itself is 20% off, stacked you get 25% off. -
Any word if they honor a price match? I ordered one using CPP and I think I can get my current config for cheaper.
-
Doesn't seem like they're going to honor the price match, even after they said they'd do it several times on the phone. First they just kept telling me to wait until the order shipped, which was 5 days ago, and since than, they just won't respond. On the phone they just say send the quotes to their email, but again they aren't responding now.
-
Price Match worked for me!! I think.
Just got off the phone with someone at Lenovo in India I think.
HURRY!! I was told they only honor price match for 21 days after original order ships.
You must go to website and built an order "exactly" as original laptop. At end of placing the order, there is an option to turn the order into a quote.
Call 866-428-4465 option 2 then 2. Ask for a price match and give them your original order number and quote number. After being on hold for several minutes, while the operator compared the two, he came back and told me he would start a price match and I should see credit within 8-10 days. Of course I got his name and ID #.
Good luck.. -

Thanks, Davideo. Keep us updated.
As good of a deal as I got, Lenovo just changed things around again. With a price match, I could save $89 (If I could have done so earler, I'd have added Intel 4965 wireless, argh). I've already saved it as a cart to my account, I'll be calling them as soon as my system arrives this week.
Oddly enough, they haven't billed my credit card yet, even though my system has shipped.
EDIT: I don't see the spot on Lenovo's website that shows where to turn it into a quote. Is that prior to adding the configuration to one's cart, or is it once the configuration is in the cart? -
The quote option is at the end of the order process. You must put the config in your cart and then check out. At the bottom of the page, there is the text about converting to quote. Just click the text and you will get a quote # (begins with G).
I just tried it and my config has dropped in price again. After the 21 day price match limit!! I am so bummed!! -
Yeah, the prices went down again. I just ordered on Sunday and got an email saying it shipped today. I'll get tracking tomorrow.
I think I'll try calling tomorrow to see if I can get price protection. It's $160 less than before. I checked it out and it's mainly due to a price drop in the hard drive. -
Just got my order price match.
Order was initially $1302.00 and now it's only $1154.00 after tax.
Got me $148 back. Sweet! -
Are you guys using coupons?
I am not getting a cheaper price for my T61P I ordered on like 2/8/08. -
I can't seem to find any coupon that work with the cpp. So I did it without.
My original order was done without going to the cpp site. Just doing now because I forgot about it.
Any coupons for cpp that works on the T61P? -
Does price matching work if you purchased without coupons or discounts and then found out there are discounts later?
-
yup. You just have to make the same setup and add those coupons on, and then make a quote. Now I just need to find some more coupons for the next 15 days on cpp. So far I got my T61P setup for $1154- $109.9(10% fatcash from fatwallet)= $1044.

I ordered last Friday and the price already dropped $88! I'll be calling for a price match.
Does anyone know if you can do more than one price match? -
Only 1 is allowed within 21 days from the day that it shipped. -
-
1. Configure your system exactly as you bought it.
2. Select quote option to receive quote number.
3. Call Lenovo within 21 day of the day that your exact same item shipped.
4. Mercifully Request Price Match
5. Give your original order number
6. Giver your price quote for the exact same item
That is about it. I was told it takes about 10 days for the credit to be given. Can only be done once within stated time frame.
I have a few weeks to go but I already have a registered quote with savings ready to go. As soon as I get the best quote I will call within the time frame. -
If not, then I'm going to jump on the price match right away. I ordered a T61 on Saturday (2/23) and it shipped today (2/26). -
You will get the price of the quote price. The Price quote is good for 30 days.
You should have 21 days from when it shipped to get a better price quote then match it. Only once. -
I just better not forget. -
Today was a good day for price saving. -
Price match being processed. Should get back just under $500. I was happy before, now I'm thrilled.
-
Can someone post what coupons you used and what site you used exactly to get the cheapest configuration?
-
Okay, nevermind. I found it cheaper. I called and they said they will credit it within some amount of days. I wasn't given confirmation but told to call back again to check progress on the request. If all goes through, I would save $131.
-
Your configuration was intense but the price still seemed high.
Glad you got a deal that you feel great about. -
Called today and hope to get around $170 back. They said to call back in a couple of days to check status.
-
hahhaha your customer service guy/gal sucks. Mine is going to call me whenever there is activity on the cash back.
-
Got email notification of my $300 price match refund today!!
Who me worry... -
Awesome!
Sounds promising for the rest of us and future Lenovo owners.
-
do they do a CPP order pricematch?
-
yup they do.

My understanding is that the special pricing offered at the Lenovo CPP site is for people who are contractors or affiliated with contractors who do alot of business with Lenovo and therefore receive special pricing.
Don't expect to get a price from that site unless you know you are 100% elgible. Not saying that you couldn't "Slip through the Cracks", but don't count on it.
The CPP pricing is not much lower than the regular Lenovo WEB site sales right now. (with all the discounts)
Also many of the eCoupons that work at the regular Lenovo site don't work at the CPP site. -
what if I bought my laptop through CPP.?
-
What is it that you want to know exactly? -
would they mtach another cpp price quote?
-
yes they will.
-
Well, that went incredibly smoothly; I think it's all about knowing what you need to do before you do it, so thanks again Davideo for your instructions!
Just got my ThinkPad Friday, and called today. Provided the original order number and quote number, which will save me $89 plus tax, bringing my total down to an even grand for a nicely-equipped T61. Was told I'll receive confirmation in the next 8-10 days, and the employee gave me her name and extension number on request.
Price match..
