Try configuring it on the lenovo website with the best coupon out there. From what I've observed not even ebay can beat the price you'd get with a good coupon from Lenovo.
If you are a Lenovo shareholder the SPP site will give you an even better deal.

Yep, I am trying to see where can I get the best price. I have looked up the ebay prices, and also using the student discounts as well. So far, the best price I have came up with is about 1K is using student discount.

    How is that sound?

Anyway, I am thinking up the memory to 4GB myself....

Thats similar to my config (which cost me 1.1k), so I'd say thats a good price.

I'm an IBM shareholder (finally :D), and the prices on SPP have gone up. :( I also noticed the regular Lenovo site prices have also gone up.

What is deal with this fluctuation in prices again...

I didnt know they have all these SPP, Students, Employee discount programs. They complicate one buying a laptop...

In the end, nobody knows she or he is getting a good deal.

Supposedly SPP has employee pricing, it says so on the front page, so if they're telling the truth, then employee pricing has also increased.
I also noticed the friends and family link redirects you to SPP now. Stupid.
