    Hi,

I'm trying to connect my x201 w/Ultrabase to a 1080p external monitor through Displayport/DVI. I have the Lenovo Displayport/DVI adapter. The problem is the laptop doesn't recognize the display is there, and doesn't send a signal. It works fine over VGA.

I already searched through the archives and changed the BIOS setting to Digital Display, and installed the latest Intel graphics drivers too.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I take it you are referring to DisplayPort to Single-Link DVI-D Monitor Cable | 45J7915 | Lenovo (US)

Sure looks like it should work.

What happens after you boot and Windows 7 is up and running? When you do a Windows Key + P and use extend?

When I first press Function and F7, and I select Extend, no signal is sent to the external monitor. Then when I go to Screen Resolution under Control Panel, and select the 2nd monitor the dropdown box says "connect through VGA" even though the monitor isn't connected thru VGA. There isn't any other option to connect to the monitor. I also checked through Intel Graphics and Media in the control panel, but there isn't any option to add the other monitor through DVI.

Sounds like the Ultrabase isn't working properly. Is it under warranty? I would call support if it is.

Now you are down to the notebook, cable or LCD panel. Have any other copies of those three you can use for additional isolation?

Another thing to think about is making sure you have installed the latest BIOS and video drivers. Especially if the machine is under warranty and there's no worry about bricking the machine on the BIOS update.

Tried a diff monitor and DVI cables, still has a problem, so must be the laptop or the DP/DVI converter cable.

Since the monitor has been hooked up before through VGA, any possibility that the computer defaults to that for this monitor even when I'm hooking it up by DVI only? Is there a way to make the laptop forget it was ever connected through VGA by uninstalling the monitor so it can start fresh? I did uninstall it through device manager, but it still seemed to remember it through VGA.

Thanks. I will try to source a new DP/DVI cable.

Were you ever able to sort this out? I have the same issue, but with Windows 8 Pro 64. I'm trying to work through Lenovo support, but haven't had any luck yet.
