Hi and thanks to all of the folks who have contributed such a wealth of info. I recently purchased a Z61t and have been trying to do a clean install of Vista and ideally dual boot w/ XP, some programs that I need won't Vista. Anyway I keep hitting detours, I have spent several hours reading and searching but apparently WAUUPGRD is not included on my lappie, yes I checked look in hidden and system files. I have downloaded 2 of the 3 necessary files but haven't had luck w/ install.wim so I decided to burn the Recovery Discs. 5 Coasters later and I'm ready to throw in the towel, 4 of the 5 discs would burn and get to about 83% verified and then spit them out with an error found.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

They are Pioneer DVD-R's, I'll try another brand later today.

I used Verbatim (manufacturing code indicates they were made by Mitsubishi Chemical Corp) and mine went great. Maybe you got a bad batch of discs.

You can download DVDInfo for free (just Google for it); it will tell you the vendor code of the discs you are using. Blank DVDs still vary somewhat in quality, much like CDs did in the early days of CD burning.

Thanks LW, burned a copy at work on an old Legacy DVD-R. It was only the 1 CD and 1 DVD, 4.2g on the DVD, hope that is good to go. I never thought that 4 of 5 DVD's would exhibit the same problem, just goes to show!
