    Hello,

I got a new Lenovo N100 laptop a few days ago. It came with 1 GB RAM and I wanted to upgrade to 2GB, so 2 bough 2 GB RAMs. The problem is that when I install 2 sticks into my laptop, it doesn't boot at all. I tried all the combinations of 4 sticks of RAM I have, and the best I could have is 1.5 GB, meaning 1 GB in the top slot and 512 in the bottom one. So I am running with 1.5 GB RAM now.

I tried finding out in the BIOS to see if I can set the capacity of the RAM slot, but there is nothing like that. The recovery process of Lenovo didn't help either. So I am hopeless now.

Anybody has faced the problem before or know how to fix it, please help. I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks.

    Hai.

lol someone else who got in on the price mistake last week huh?

So far, for some reason, I've read that alot of people aren't able to get kingston(?) work when they go 2x1gb with this one, but works
when they leave one 512 and go 1.5gb; except for those who bought corsair or patriot. Go figure.

It's because of this that asked:

the fact that it was a great deal only goes so far.

Otherwise, how do you like it? I assume that since you are trying to upgrade right away, that vista business is indeed running sluggishly.

    good luck.

Thanks for the answer, I appreciate it.

One more question, if that is the case for my memory, will it be possible if I buy a another 1Gb ram, say from corsair or patriot, and place it in the slot that is using 512Mb now. Do you think that will work?

    Thanks.

Sorry man, I don't know for sure. You might try reseating it first b/f spending the cash (making it less and less of a "steal" the more you have to spend)), ymmv.
