I followed the clean install instructions from here

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=298467

and put XP on my T400... Now it wont shut down properly. It logs off my user name, turns into a sky blue screen and then freezes. The only lights that turns off are the HD light (stops flickering) and the wireless connections light.

It happened after I installed the power manager driver...Anybody know what I can do to fix the problem? Thanks.

Should I just use the system update version 3.14?

I've heard in the past system update just messes stuff up... Is that true? Is this one of those "duh" questions nobody wants to answer because I'm just being stupid or something?

Try doing another clean install and install all the drivers manual.

Remember, you can do a Quick NTFS format to speed up the process.

Or do a separate smaller partition for the OS. This way you can keep your data on another partition, which you won't have to touch the next time you do an install.

Personally I never use system or Windows update unless I have a problem that needs to be fixed. It often causes more trouble than it's worth in my experience.
