    Hi Friends,

I have a Lenovo N100 which is 1.5yrs old and out of warranty. Recently I came to know that the Battery of my laptop has stopped working though the indicator shows a charge of 70% that still is remaining. However, my laptop would turn off when disconnected from the mains. The power went off a few times and all of a sudden my screen does not turn on. I first thought that it was a problem with the snps on my motherboard and opened my laptop. But the processor, CD Drive and the card reader were getting power through the motherboard. When I turn on my laptop I hear a sound of the processor fan and then its all quiet, but I still can sense slightly the slow rotation of the processor fan. I don't even know whether my system is booting or not.

Someone told me that the system first takes some power from the battery while booting and since my battery has been totally dried up, there lies the problem. But my friend has the same model and I tried booting his system with the battery disconnected and it worked fine. The problem is something else

The company people demand huge Rs. 1700 just for diagnosing (which is not refundable) and for sure they are going to ask me to change my mother board which will cost me around Rs. 18K, which was the case when I had a prob earlier, but luckily it had warranty at that time.

    Please guys help me!
    Thanks in advance!

I would suggest not putting your email on the internet unless you like spam.

You were right to doubt the advice about the battery. It is not needed to run your laptop. Perhaps as a place to start you could connect you N100 to an external monitor. If it works, there's something wrong with the screen. If not, there's a problem elsewhere.

    Thanks Zaz for the idea.
But I have already try this out to only learn that the desktop monitor cable cannot fit into the female port in my laptop. Only a projector cable can fit into it. Then I can power on my pc, wait for some time and use the short cut on my keyboard to try to display image on the projector. But unfortunately, I could not get a projector from anywhere.

    Regards,
    Hemanth.
