I got my new T60 two months ago and have been playing with the various security features.
I find that I can not get into the BIOS to change any settings. It accepts my fingerprint but then asks for the power-on password. All the passwords I've tried fail. If I just enter through I have view access but very limited ability to change anything.
To make matters worse, when the computer was brand new I set it up and then decided to start over again. I know, pretty stupid thing to do probably. That may be where my passwords got screwed up somehow.
Is there any hope for fixing this? Do I need to keep my fingers crossed that I will never need to actually make a change in BIOS?

Update. I have been reading up online on various forums searching for a way to reset the password without bringing in the computer for service. One post I was reading happened to mention that the password should only be 7 characters even though it appears that it accepts longer passwords. that did the trick. I went back in and made sure I just typed the 7 characters only and got right in.

interesting.
so it only accepted your partial password up to 7 characters?
