Alright, I have a T61 with an NVidia Quadro NVS 140M 128MB Video card. The resolution on this can go up to something ridiculous like 1680x1050. The resolution can be set to 1360x768 (important). Now I have a 20" Vizio TV hooked up to the docking station (native resolution of 1360x768), however when I hook the laptop up to the docking station, the highest resolution I can select in the Control Panel (Vista BTW) is 1280x1024. 1360x768 is not one of the options. Is there any way I can fix this? It's very annoying because everything looks stretched out.

Bump? Anyone know how to fix this, or even why it's even happening in the first place?

Do you have the display drivers for your Vizio TV? and how is it connected to the dock?

No I don't... Since it's a TV and not a monitor I didn't think I needed any as it worked fine on my PC. It's connected to the dock through the VGA port at the back.

Yeah my TV is a Vizio VX20L. And I can't find any drivers for it.

Yeah. Google and Vizio's site yield nothing.

Have you tried powerstrip (I think they have a version that works with Vista now)? Maybe you can make a custom INF file for your monitor, that has that resolution...
    Check www.avsforums.com they might help.

The problem is that the DVI pass-through did not act reliably in the past for resolutions over 1280x1024, so IBM (at the time, before lenovo) limited the resolution in the official driver to that. I had a T40 laptop with the same problem: wanted to drive a 21" non-widescreen LCD at full res (1600x1480 or whatever it was).

I ended up downloading the generic drivers for my video chipset, modifying the INF files either to add the missing resolutions, or to enable the drivers to install on my chipset (can't remember), and then installing those instead of the factory IBM ones. This enabled >1280x1024 resolutions on external DVI's.

I'm sorry I can't remember the exact steps I took, I'll try to find them again. Ping me in a little while if you don't hear back, I'll try looking again. Good luck, I just got a T61 and haven't yet tried connecting external monitors (and I don't have the dock, which I'm shopping for now).
