I have 3 laptops including my new T61, and the other two quickly connect to my home network and are online as soon as they turn on or log on. With the T61, however, it says that it is connected to my wireless home network yet when I open up a browser or try to install updates I am actually not! Every time I log on have to right click the wireless icon and repair the problem to get it online and working.

    How do I fix this?

    Update your wi-fi card drivers
    Update your router firmware.

Then get back to us and post your results!

from an elevated command prompt (If you have Vista)
    1. perform an ipconfig /all and verify that you have a valid IP address
    2. Attempt to ping your router (usually 192.168.0.1)
    3. Attempt to ping a remote website, such as microsoft.com or your ISP (e.g. comcast.net)
This should let you know where the issue lies with your connectivity.

I am having this problem too... I have downloaded the latest intel drivers but the problem still persists.

I have done the ipconfig /all and it reports that all the information is correct. I have to run ipconfig /renew to flush all my IP info and retrieve a new one from my DHCP server.

Can you ping your gateway and an external address?

All of my drivers are updated, and as I was about to ping my router/external website I think it got worse.

I logged on to the T61 and it could not find my home network, instead, the only network in its range was "linksys" which I looked up and is Sisco Systems (I'm in my home in a rural area so I doubt this is an external router - probably within the T61?).

Anyway, that router is very weak and I have limited connectivity. The worst part is my other two laptops now seem to have the same exact problem - they can no longer find my home network, just linksys! This never happened before I got the T61 and I've had the same network in place for 2+ years, so I doubt it's a coincidence.

Any idea on how to block linksys and stay connected to my home network?

EDIT - Now my T61 can't find linksys but some wireless connection called "Carepoint555955." - also not mine, and also weak connectivity. What the heck is going on around here!
