A few days ago, the "m" key of a ThinkPad T 61 I bought three months ago started making a strange noise. I contacted Lenovo here in Argentina and they've told me that they'd send me someone to look at the notebook.
I've heard that ThinkPad's keyboards are great, so am I just having bad luck?
-
What kind of strange noise is it? Does it make your notebook beep or something?
-
Well, it's kind of... it's something similar to the noise a bed may make when there's something wrong with its springs. It sounds like a spring and different from the other keys.
-
If I had to guess, I would say it's a defective key. There should be not sound coming from the keys other than the normal tactile response. You can call in for a replacement, they're easy about replacing keyboards.
Good luck. -
So, they should replace the entire keyboard? Or rather the defective key? In the latter case, do you think they could do so right away?
Thanks -
Ask for NMB one =)))
-
I don't think they send individual keys. You'd have to call in and tell them the problem. They should send you a new keyboard, shouldn't take too long (I hope). Make sure to call tech support and not customer service.
-
I don't think they will actually send you another brand one, as when my keyboard was broken and they said they only send the same brand and same kind (e.g. us keyboard) when I requested for a UK keyboard.
-
But can the technician change the keyboard on site? Is it easy to do so? I phoned them last Friday, but they haven't contacted me yet.

Yes and yes.
