I have problem with my Y580 GTX 660m, when I play battlefield you'll notice the screen looks like it's black or torn in half like a piece of paper.
Don't know what causes this. I have vertical sync off sometimes could this be? I also run in a windows sometimes. If i look towards the sky it looks all normal(in game).
    What do you guys think?

you talking about the black covering most of the upper corners ?

if you think it's vsync, then try turning it on

how about ruling out the driver by trying an older or newer driver ?

Download Furmark and do a test... see if it hold, don't get it to hot too..

Also people comments on a bad batch of Y580 gtx 660m.

returning it would be the only solution.

do a burn in Benchmark and check you result. can you duplicate your gaming problem in other applications?
try different setting in games to see if you can duplicate your problem.
My Y580 is on it's way.. delivery around Thursday.

someone posted this on a forum:

This problem could be caused by either software or hardware.

If it is hardware then there is not much sensible that you can do without voiding warranty. If that is not an issue try to monitor the GPU temperature with something like GPU-Z. If it is too hot when idle and rising sharply when you start a game then you probably found the problem. And you still can not repair it without voiding warranty, the smart move it to send it back for tech support all HW related problems.

If it is software then it is likely due to some problem with the graphics driver. If you did not change anything then try downloading and installing the newest driver. If you did that and it started crashing afterward try either reverting the update, or use the restore disks to restore the computer. (Warning: That will wipe any data you put on it).

It stay stable at 75C checked with GPU-Z. I wonder if the V-sync being turned off has anything to do with it?

Instead of wondering try playing with vsync on and check for yourself.

Yeah, it still does it. I don't know what's going on :(
I might RMA it, when they replace a GPU don't they have to replaces the processor and entire boards too?

Cant find any data on what the max temp should be for these kepler based cards. But its desktop counterparts can run at 100 degrees C and still work (albeit how long, thats another discussion).

Did you try futurmark? If it happens in other games/applications it is definitely hardware. If it only happens in BF3 it is probably software.

I have artifacts etc on my desktop playing Crysis2 and my video cards are no where near overheating. Its just bad drivers/programming.
