I attempted to reformat my T500 with recovery DVDs and it's been stuck at Lenovo Base Software Selector for an hour on processing "c:/swwork/paenx.cmd"

Anyway to fix this? I've already restarted it once and it's stuck at the same place.

could it be that the DVD recovery media is damaged? or the file is corrupted?

in any case, if you dont mind to try to do the recovery process again (turn off the computer and re-do it - can you do this? hope this doesnt screw up anything...) i suggest you try that.

but just to be on the safe side, try to call lenovo first, before you do anything else.

I have the same exact problem. I just received these Vista Business SP1 Recovery DVDs from Lenovo and they get stuck at PAENX.CMD.

I'm less than impressed with the T500. My company has 8 T61 laptops and we have never had a problem with any of them. We purchased 6 T500's in the last eight months and at least four of them have had major issues requiring service calls. Not to mention the stupid switchable graphics "capability" that causes blue screens of death all the time.

I'm going to try to upgrade to XP Pro.
