I called to change from Vista Premium to XP Pro and was told that it is better to just cancel the order and re enter the new configuration. The person at Lenovo put me on hold for 3 minutes and told me he canceled the 1st system and I should now buy the new one.

30 minutes later I get an email saying the first computer has shipped. Now what..... I need XP for work.

What do you think they will do.....

I'd try to call and ask for XP recovery disks.

The normal procedure is wait till the shipment arrives, accept it but don't open the box. Then call Lenovo and explain your situation, they will then send you an email with a RMA number. They may also send you another email with a UPS shipping label that you print out and attach to the box. You would also print the RMA# on the box. Then UPS will schedule a pickup and that's about it.

No way that will work. Vista Home Premium does not come with downgrade rights. The only editions that are eligible are Business and Ultimate.

If you have just purchased a computer and your work requires XP, then insist that work provide XP for you.
