The problem is that the CSS will spontaenously stop working. When I enter a website where I protected it with fingerprint swipe, the prompt appears but after the fingerprint is registered, nothing happens. The password field is not filled in or automatically submitted. I don't believe it is the fingerprint reader at fault because I can log off windows and log back in using the fingerprint reader.

When I close the CSS app from the system tray and try to restart the app, I get an error relating to the TPM chip not working.

    Anyone else get this problem?

I can confirm it is the TPM problem. I get this error when I go into TPM Managment Console:

    " Cannot load management console
Loading of the management console failed. Self-test has failed and the TPM has shutdown. (Eception form HRESULT: x8028001C) Try again."

To resolve that problem, I need to restart my laptop and it works for a short time but it will spontaneously fail again later.

    Can anyone help me?

    X200 user here:

I can't help you, but simply wanted to chime in that I too get this problem on occasion. I've noticed that it primarly happens after waking up on suspend, and so I theorize that it has something to do with the TPM/security/something not resuming properly after hibernation/suspend.

I've tried a number of things, but usually I end up having to reboot the whole bloody thing before it works properly again... until the next time it randomly dies on waking up from suspend (which may be different in your case).

Is ther anyone else out there with the same problem as us? This is a pretty significant problem if it is a software issue, unless we both have defective TPM chips.

I couldn't find any driver downloads for the TPM chip on Lenovo's website. Does anyone know where to get a more updated driver?

Can anyone say whether they have this problem or not?

I have a similar problem...except CSS won't even start for me...I was able to get CSS 8.2 to work and log into websites under XP SP3, but ever since I installed Vista, only the fingerprint reader works to log me into Windows, but CSS won't start...rather, CSS loads and i see its processes in the Task Manager, but no interface or configuration screen...

...have tried clearing/resetting/disabling the TPM to no avail...hoping someone else is able to provide additional insight or a solution. TIA

There's a new finger print reader available on lenovo system update. I've DL'ed it, and have it running. I'll report back if there are problems with it. But so far it seems to be better. BTW, I'm running vista business on my x200.

Thanks for the headsup. I'll install it now too but I don't think the problem is related to the fingerprint reader (since it works logging in) but instead it is due to the TPM security chip.

Did this fix it for you, 'shorty?...i've reset the TPM multiple times, to no avail...re-installing the fingerprint & css drivers didn't help either...

I Have the same problem. Don't think it's a hardware problem, more likely software, haven't yet exactly figured out why yet. I just purchased this laptop on Black Friday so I'm still figuring things out.
