I know there are ALOT of people on this forum with T61's that have an intermittent brightness OSD problem OR that they do not have one at all.

My computer was on standby and on resume I saw the brightness OSD pop up. Anyone know how to fix this issue?

And, btw, my screen is much brighter than that, the flash just screwed it up.

*edit* whoops, i meant OSD, not LCD in the title *edit*

Wait what is the issue? That it pops up when you resume, or that its not there when you try to change the brightness?

    Its actually both.

When my computer first starts up and I attempt to change the brightness, the OSD does not show.

However, when my computer resumes from standby, the osd starts to miraculously work.

Make sure you have installed all of the following:

    -Latest graphics drivers
    -Thinkpad Power Management driver
    -Lenovo Power Manager
    -Hotkey Driver
    -System Interface Driver

That should make everything play nice with the OSD.

I have all those drivers that you mentioned, its probably something minor that I'm over looking.

I have the OSD pop up after resuming from sleep, but I guess I don't think of it as an issue. It just displays for a couple seconds and then goes away.

As for other proper functionality of OSD the Hotkey Driver and System Interface Driver should be all you need. I would suggest uninstalling those drivers -> reboot -> re-install them with a reboot after each install.

It doesn't work immediately on boot, you have to wait for the OSD drivers/util to be loaded up I think - if they're a way down the list there will be a delay until it works..
After standby or hibernation the drivers/util will already be running as windows resumes where it left off.

You won't need the power manager. I have all the others though with a working OSD..

Ditto, I do not have the power manger utility either (I only have the driver installed).

Advice for anyone wanting to remove the power manager software. Do not attempt to remove the power manager utility unless you are in "safe mode".

Panteedropper. As noted in the previous threads about this topic, the problem is caused by the incompatibility with the HotKey driver and the igfx driver. If you uninstall the igfx driver and have the Hotkey driver + Lenovo System Interface utitlity installed, the brightness OSD will appear. The only problem is without the igfx driver, you cannot control the brightness of the lcd panel. You can change the brightness indicator on the OSD, but the actual brightness doesnt change.

AFAIK, Lenovo has yet to address this problem with the T61. I know the Z61T w/ the GMA950 and WinXP shows a fully functional brightness OSD.
