I have been spoiled by the speed of the C2D in the C200 the past month or so, and I had to get something a bit nicer to reward myself for almost being done with college.
I was first thinking about ordering it through the main public site with a basic T60 15" Flexview model, but then for about 100 more, saw this configuration up on the acedemic site. Before my config was this:
~1500
XP Home
7200 C2D
512x2 DDR2
40gb HD
CDRW/DVDROM
15" 1400x1050
IBM Wireless
9 Cell
3 year warranty
New model for 100 bucks more... specs below.
Your price: $1,624.35
20077JU
- Lenovo ThinkPad T60 2007
- Core 2 Duo T7400 / 2.16 GHz
- Centrino Duo
- RAM : 1 GB (1024x1)
- HD : 120 GB
- CD-RW / DVD
- Gigabit Ethernet

- fingerprint reader
- Win XP Pro
- 15" TFT 1400 x 1050 ( SXGA+ )
LENOVO THINKPAD T60 2007 - CORE 2 DUO T7400 2.16 GHZ - 15
- 9 Cell Battery
- 3 Year Depot Warranty
This is being paid for with the money I made this semester tutoring people in programming C# (ugh), xmas cash, and some other funds. As long as the box doesn't arrive 1" tall smooshed by UPS I will be very delighted![]()
EDIT: Big difference between XP Home and XP Pro. Not really on the XP side of things, but the free Vista upgrade from Pro gets me Vista Business, where XP Home would just get my Vista Home. Big plus![]()

For a screen without flexview I would have just gone with the 14.1", that thing is so portable.
-
Hopefully it's still early enough to get the thing in by christmas!
I agree with The Oatman on the screen..if you want something bigger for desktop use, get a reasonably low priced desktop LCD to go along with your purchase and enjoy having a 14.1" 1400x1050 and a 17" 1280x1024. -
And they really are giving non EPP people the full EPP discount. The Official EPP discount on the 2007-7JU is $1999, but then it's on EPP only special for $1,624.35 (at least that was the case when I got mine a few weeks ago). Hey, and I got mine as an almost graduation gift for myself too! Then...2 weeks later while getting my old laptop all set to sell its mobo short circuited, so it turned out to be not so much a gift to get the T60 but a necessity.
Oh, and Oatman, this is the flexview monitor. And for me the extra "portability" of a 14" is no substitute for Flexview, and yes, I do take my laptop around with me. One day, when I want portable, I'll get an X series, for now 15" is portable enough for me on planes, in the library, in the park, the cafe... -
Oh, believe me, I made the same choice: Flexview over 14". It is just that I misunderstood your original post and thought you had ordered the non flexview 15".

Hey Marlinspike, what sorts of tempos does your laptop run at? Does it keep nice and cool, or do the video card and 7400 processor make it run a tad on the warm side?
-
Lucky you.
In Canada, they sell this model at about $2303 CAD (~$2012USD) even after some discount. -
