I am ready to pull the trigger for a T410 but was reluctant as if there would be a revision upcoming soon?

The reason I feel remorseful is due to the fact that I am coming from a macbook pro. I've experienced multiple quirks with the first gen unibodies and am afraid I will face the same issues with the T410.

The T410 IS the revision. It's a revision of the T400, so there shouldn't be another revision for a while.

The T410 was just realeased. Other than Intel CPU updates, there will not be a revision to the T410 for a long time.

I can't recall ThinkPads ever having minor revisions shortly after a new model release to address problems -- the designers at Yamato Labs always gets the design done right for the initial release. The next ThinkPad T410 update will probably appear in 2011 and brings us some more new features (Sandy Bridge?).

Sounds like a good deal. I am just looking for a rigid laptop I can use everyday around the office.

Basically I want a laptop that is strong to knock someone out and then be able to operate after so I can check my emails. :D

In the last generation, the keyboard was tweaked after release due to flex complaints - first, they reverted to the old T61-style solid-metal-backed keyboards, and then Lenovo implemented a metal structural bracing to support the flexy keyboard, eliminating flex.

Although in general, those minor revisions are more rare on business-grade laptops as a whole.

T410 seems to be a very good machine from the feature point of view, only the W510 have usb 3.0 feature by using an extra controller chip.

I don't the T series will have the usb 3.0 feature till the next generation when Intel incorporates this feature into their chipset.

I just feel extremely awkward from purchasing a 2k+ mbp to a 1.2k thinkpad with a ecoupon. I always did have that you get what you pay for mentality......

I'd pull the trigger on the T410, you could later then add a ExpressCard with USB 3.0.

If you want to spend $2k+ on a new Thinkpad, you could get a mighty fine configuration :)

I, ugh, volunteer to help broker the transaction so that the final cost meets your expectations. :D

Joking aside, if you need some ideas to spend more money on your new ThinkPad, I recommend the 3-year accidental damage protection (ADP).

Prior to buying my T510... I was thinking about when 3.0 was releasing... but figured I couldn't wait.

I'm not that familiar with ExpressCards but this alleviates any fears I have about not having a relatively up to date machine.
