    i have the chance to purchase a ibm thinkpad details below its just comein up to three years old and is being replaced by new ones

    Prod ID 2007 766U
    Type 2007 - 66U

    as i understand it it will come with xp pro still installed infact i am told it will be taken off the network and then thats it a friend has told me i wont beable to format and install a clean version of xp as the harddrive will be tied to the motherboard is this correct if so does this mean i wont beable to do a clean install and am better off buying a new new laptop
