Ok, after doing some researching and reading, I think i'm ready to purchase an IBM T42 or T42p. I do light work on it (Office Applications, Dreamweaver), Surf a lot, occasional DVD watching when traveling. I want a quick machine, and I probably want this to last me a few years. I can only spend about $1500...max $1800.

    1. What specs should I choose?
    2. Where should I purchase from, what is the most inexpensive vendor?

One of the best lower cost T42s is the 2378fvu. It's $1,484.10 thru IBM with a Visa credit card discount.

You can scroll thru the above site and find many T42s in your price range.
