    Folks in India -

Do you have any leads on where to get TP accessories and upgrades in India? I'm looking to get the gobi 2000 WWAN card in the near future and the 9 cell battery for the x201 sometime late next year. Lenovo India site lists the products and the prices, but there's no info on how to buy!

    Thanks in advance!

Ask your local reseller. If there are more than one, approach them too. I got the dock for my R400 through the outfit that sold me the machine. If the reseller is good (and some of them are), you could get what you are looking for - though I am not sure about the Gobi 2000 WWAN card. But battery and stuff like that you will surely get. You could also approach the IBM Service Center (in your city) and request them to order the part for you. You have to pay 100% in advance and fulfilling the order could take around 3-6 weeks. This is the experience I had with the Service Center in B'lore not too long ago. They were very helpful.

    Cheers!

    3-6 weeks,
that's too long. they got your money, why take a month for shipping a small piece of hardware?

Probably because they have to import it from Singapore (or maybe even from China - I am not sure about this though). I know, however, that they can do it sooner. That's how my replacement machine came. But in their order form they mention around 6 weeks.

Edit: I guess they take your cash upfront because they don't want you to order something and not pick it up. I am not sure that they take credit cards though. Maybe they do. I simply don't know. I do know that I paid with my debit card (which was the same as paying with cash).

... just wanted to update everyone that I was able to source a WWAN card from a colleague who was returning from the UK. Opened up the TP last week and installed the card - the installation went without a hitch!

will be getting a BSNL sim this week for the 3G connection.

    Hows the GPS receiption?
Ive tried it on my T410 but the best I could get was 2 or 3 satellites that werent sufficient to start GPS tracking/give coordinates.
But it was indoors tho, on the 3rd floor in 5 story building surrounded by 5 story buildings :D

@veer - haven't tried the GPS yet. Just didn't have sufficient time after the weekend. Had around 300 MB of updates getting pulled through system update over the weekend. Will take it out for a spin this weekend and report back.

btw - it costed me around 110 pounds.
