    Purchasing a lenovo t61p w/out a touchpad

    I wan't to purchase a t61p but i could do w/out the touchpad. the old trackpoint is all i'm used to. i will call customer service tomorrow to find out if i can purchase the laptop online, and then call customer service to remove the touchpad......has anyone tried this already?

    Not possible. All T61 models come with a touchpad, so to find a palmrest without the touchpad that would fit would be impossible.

    The only model without a touchpad right now is the 15.4" R61e, and the palmrest for that model is too high (in terms of height) for the T61.

    I think some of the R61i models do not have a touchpad either depending on machine type. You can disable the trackpad if you don't wish to use it.

    all laptops come with a touchpad. It is not a option

    ya i didnt want it either. luckily in the bios you can disable it.

    I didn't want it either, though if it matters to anyone if you disable the touchpad in bios neither will work in Linux, kinda a bug i found, but in windows you can disable either and its fine in Linux.
