    Put T61p RAM into Vaio=berserk! =)

    So I bought T61p 4gb worth from new egg to stick in my t61p, and since my laptop isn't here yet, I put it in my vaio. and then my vaio started rebooting every 15 seconds.

    black screen.

    i have no idea, i bought it 2 months ago. costco model, 13.5" screen.

    it's not a big deal though, just thought it was funny.

    It could be an older model that doesn't support the ram, but like you said, funny nonetheless.

    Reseat your RAM. (As in take it out, insert at 45 degrees, slide in as much as possible, then push down.) If that doesn't work, RMA it -- bad sticks.

    Your Vaio is compatible with DDR2, otherwise, it wouldn't fit.

    Does your Vaio support 4 gigs of RAM? I think what admlam said is a good recommendation, but I'd probably put one at a time and only that one stick of RAM without any other and see how it functions to make sure the RAM works.

    If your RAM is DDR2 533 and the Vaio needs DDR2 667 then it may be the cause.
