I'm having a hard time parsing the warranty options offered by Lenovo Canada. Here are some of them:

"ThinkPlus 1 Year Onsite 9x5x Next Business Day Warranty and Maintenance Option
ThinkPlus 3 Year Onsite 9x5 Next Business Day for 3 Year EasyServ ThinkPad [add $45.00]
ThinkPlus 4 Year EasyServ Total for 3 Year EasyServ ThinkPad [add $65.00]
ThinkPlus 2 Year EasyServ Total for 1 Year EasyServ ThinkPad [add $85.00]
ThinkPlus 3 Year EasyServ Total for 1 Year EasyServ ThinkPad [add $165.00]
ThinkPlus 4 Year EasyServ Total for 1 Year EasyServ ThinkPad [add $285.00]"

What is "ThinkPlus"? Does it always mean on-site 9/5 next-business-day service? Would a repair person really show up the next day?

What is "EasyServ"? How does it differ from "ThinkPlus"?

ThinkPlus is just a name they give to their extened warranty program.

Onsite 9x5 NBD (Next Business Day) means that if you run into trouble with your computer (say the keyboard doesn't work), you call Lenovo and they'll send someone to your house to fix it.

EasyServ means that if you encounter a problem with your laptop (say the keyboard stops working), you call Lenovo and they either tell you to bring it to a certified Lenovo repair center, or they send you a box, pre-paid shipping label and you send it to a Lenovo repair center - depends on the severity of the problem you're having with the laptop.

Thanks for this. That's what I thought.

What puzzles me is that they seem to combine the two in one option.

See, for example: "ThinkPlus 3 Year Onsite 9x5 Next Business Day for 3 Year EasyServ ThinkPad [add $45.00]"

Does this mean you get next-day repair service at home or have to send the system into the depot?

Or do you only get next-day repair service at home if you've already bought the three-year send-to-depot service?

I'd say the latter seems more plausible, except that the site doesn't seem to give you the option to choose the three-year EasyServ service.

It means if your system already has 3 year depot service warranty, it costs $45 to upgrade to on-site service for the same time period.

This option is for upgrading 1 year depot service warranty to 3 years.

ThinkPlus 3 Year EasyServ Total for 1 Year EasyServ ThinkPad [add $165.00]

Just switch the word 'for" to "from"::
ThinkPlus 3 Year EasyServ Total from 1 Year EasyServ ThinkPad [add $165.00]

yeah that Lenovo canada site can get pretty confusing at times and the descriptions don't help either. I'd hate to see what the french version is like. :p

I also had a difficult time with the confusing wording. I recently ordered a T61 that initially came standard with 1 Year Depot/Express Warranty. This standard warranty was indicated as the last item on the order page. On the next page of the order form, there was an option for the following:

ThinkPlus 3 Year Onsite 9x5 Next Business Day for 3 Year EasyServ ThinkPad

I chose this option and completed my order.

I recieved a confirmation for my order a few hours later indicating my choice of notebook and the extra warranty as an add on as follows:

    ThinkPad T61 15 Widescreen - 1 Yr Depot
ThinkPlus 3 Year Onsite 9x5 Next Busines

Did I choose a warranty option that does not apply to me? Was my warranty option only for those thinkpads with a standard 3 year warranty?
