Hey, I need this answer quick because the 10% off coupon expires today! If I am getting integrated graphics on a t61 with 14.1" screen with a 7 cell battery, would I be able to last at least 3.5 hours with screen dimmed, all unnecessary stuff off, with just word processing? Thanks!

    ALSO:

What about a 15" t61 with a 9 cell battery for just word processing and also has integrated graphics! I need to choose between one of those with the primary focus being getting at least 3.5 hours of battery life.

Yes, you should be able to get closer to 4.5 hours.

OK I will go with the 14.1". Thanks for the quick replies! I checked google but most people just complained about battery life without giving a solid number!

It's a shame that the older T4x series could get over 7 hours of battery life while the T61's can only get half of that.

You should get 4.5hours like other people said but w/ the screen brightness set to lowest, and no wifi I guess. I've never seen mine goes above 4hours.

My thought when I placed the order for my T61 w/ the 7cell battery that it could last 6-7 hours, but guess what? I got half of it. :D

Quick question: Does the 6-cell battery for T61/T60 protrude?

You know what's also a shame? That the older T4x series costed over $2000 for a decent config while we can get a good T6x config for $1000. I prefer the latter. If you have $1000 to throw around, then I suppose the battery life discrepancy is a shame.

Some people (including me) would be willing to pay for battery life. My original T40p lasted 5 hours (full LCD brightness). Battery times got worse with the T43. My T42 is still pretty good with close to 4.5 hours on a 9 cell (full LCD, surfing the web).

It would be nice if they offered 9 cell for the T61, but that'd probably stick out like a sore thumb. Since the 6 cell already protudes out (T60 with 6 cell has no protrusion), a 9 cell would probably add an additional half an inch.

    Protudes:
    T60 with 9 cell
    T61 with 6 cell
    T61 with 7 cell

    Does not protrude:
    T60 with 6 cell
    T61 with 4 cell

I can get about 4 hours at low brightness (which I find to still be plenty bright enough, unless you're in daylight), WiFi on, doing web browsing and word processing, with my 7-cell, and I have the nVidia card. I think integrated graphics with WiFi off should be able to stretch almost to 5 hours. Which, frankly, is more than enough for almost anyone.

well, blame it on Intel not Lenovo for the battery life. It's all because of Intel making CPUs run faster, use more juice while no one else able to re-invent battery technology to keep it up. :D

I just ordered a T61 with a 7-cell, an Ultrabay battery, and integrated graphics.

I'm hoping for 5 hours or so.

    4 cell + 3 cell (ultrabay) = 7 cell

So just look at tests for 7 cells.

    Oh my.......

You want battery life TESTS? Then what's wrong with looking at 7-cell battery tests when 4 cell + ultrabay is also 7 cells? They're the same number of cells!!!

Oh. I thought you misunderstood me and went on about how 7-cell tests don't matter because you aren't getting a 7-cell. That really ticked me off. But now I'm happy. You aren't crazy!! Yay!! :D
