YET i get Windows Vista BASIC sticker.
i havent turn on the system...
anyone else got this?!?
what should i do about this? i think im gonna call lenovo ASAP.
-
Turn it on to see what version you have, they could have put on the wrong sticker by accident.
-
the wrong sticker thing bother me.... vista basic? on x300? lol. it such an ugly sticker too
how hard is it to remove the sticker (the vista basic sticker on the palmrest)? will this void the warranty?
do you think lenovo can replace my computer with a brand new one? it just arrive few hours ago.
just a note... the sticker is placed on the left bottom corner of the base. i got the centrino vpro sticker on the left and vista basic on the right. -
are you talking aboue the Vista COA on the bottom of the machine or the Vista Basic label on the palmrest?
-
im talking about the vista basic sticker on the palmrest.

does the palmrest sticker means, that the computer is vista basic certified, or does it means vista basic installed?
anyone got a link where microsoft explain what the sticker means? -
-
I received my new T61 with XP Pro installed with Vista Business restore discs in the box.
There was a Vista Basic sticker on the palm rest, so I just removed it.
So, you are not the only one to get the "wrong" sticker.
Cheers

-
thanks gaia and malai, hmm it rhymes
(repped)
yeah, just speak to lenovo tech support. never had this kind of problem with any other manufacturer before. maybe its 'vista' thing... it my first vista computer.
yes, i'm tempted to peel it off, hhahahahah
a pleasant surprise i get from this is that i get recovery cd in the box! i wasnt expecting that. the lenovo rep also says that if my hdd (ssd) should fail, and i replace it, i can reinstall my whole hdd including the thinvantage partition through the recovery disk. sweet!
to bad its such a hot day in aussie.... maybe i turn it on tommorow.... or the day after..
thanks guys, oh, and it makes me feel better if anyone else has wrong sticker... just to give an idea of how much this phenomenom occur. i wonder if this is just lenovo's problem... -
Yey! I got the pretty sticker on my T61 although I'm not a fan on showcasing my laptop stickers to my friends, so I just might as well peel it off.
Ohh, and BTW I hate Vista, so why have the stupid sticker in there. -
My U330 came with a Basic sticker. No big thing.
-
All preconfigured X300s come with the Vista Basic sticker in Australia.
-
I believe the sticker you get is related to your video card (and possibly RAM). Microsoft has certain rules for what sticker you get.
In theory, a Vista Basic sticker should mean that you don't have enough power to run the Aero Glass them. However, I don't think the x300 should have any problem here.
My x200 came with a "Windows Vista" sticker (no other wording). I have since relocated this, and all other, stickers inside the battery bay. -
I would keep the VB sticker. I purposely ordered VB with my system just for the sticker
. It makes my laptop unique!

this explains a lot. shame on microsoft for giving birth to this confusingly misleading sticker system.
