I just got a new Thinkpad with the well-known Quadro NVS 140M graphics card and a 1680x1050 screen. I was wondering if it's normal for Vista (both Aero Glass and to a lesser extent Classic) to be a somewhat, well, sluggish. It's most evident when resizing or scrolling graphics intensive windows, such as a website with large images.
When I resize or scroll on my 8800GT equipped desktop it's instant, on the Thinkpad everything slightly lags after the mouse, it's kind of irritating. I didn't think Vista was so graphics card dependent.
I've tried all kinds of drivers. Using a more modern set than those Lenovo offers at least kicked my Aero and Gaming scores in the Windows Experience Index panel up to 4.5 and 5.1, which seems to be normal.
Is the sluggishness common, or is there something wrong with my machine? It's a fresh Vista installation with the most recent drivers for everything, I hope it's not a hardware problem. Does anyone know if switching to XP will help? Vista is slow even with Aero Glass disabled, though there is a slight improvement. Maybe XP will be better.
Any insight, or even solutions, would be appreciated.

What version drivers are you using?

Ye, I have the same problem and I can't find any solution

Did you make sure to completely uninstall the old drivers and use Driver Sweeper before installing another? -
I'm using the latest Quadro driver from Lenovo for mine, and it is really only sluggish in video games, but when I was using XP Pro and the latest stable laptopvideo2go drivers, man, it did really well in video games for a 8400 based card.
The only reason why I dont use LV2go drivers in Vista Business 64-bit is they dont allow me to change brightness and they dont let the computer sleep, anyone know of a LV2go driver set that will let the Thinkpad sleep and dim the display for 64-bit Vista? -
It definitely sounds like a driver issue.
Even integrated graphics should have no problem with vista aero.
I know that everytime I reformat my computer and don't have video drivers installed yet, scrolling would be noticeably laggy. After installing video drivers it is fixed though.
