Mine came with Quadro 101.33 driver installed and scored 4485 in 3dmark05.
I installed the modded drivers from laptopvideo2go.com (163.16 driver with modded inf) and my scored dropped in HALF to 2749.
Has anyone had any success here? Please let me know which drivers to try.
-
Update: I tried the 163.14 driver and got an error on install for a missing file (nuvcode). So I tried 163.16 again and got same result as before. Tonight I tried the 163.44 drivers with best results so far:
3DMark05 Main Test Results
3DMark Score 5739 3DMarks
CPU Score 7972 CPUMarks
Detailed Test Results
Game Tests
GT1 - Return To Proxycon 24.3 fps
GT2 - Firefly Forest 18.4 fps
GT3 - Canyon Flight 27.1 fps
CPU Tests
CPU Test 1 4.1 fps
CPU Test 2 6.8 fps
Well, tomorrow I will try some games. Wish me luck. -
5739 is an okay score for 3Dmark05. I believe it's within the range of a 128mb 8600GT on the MBP. Still a far cry from the 7k of the 256mb 570M, but it's good enough.
Can't wait to hear your thoughts on games. All these artificial benchmarks are nice, but don't tell us anything about how it runs. -
Does the T61p actually have dedicated 128MB or 256MB video? I was looking at Lenovo Personal System Reference guide and it claimed that the T61p's graphics memory was TurboCached.
-
14" T61p comes with either dedicated:
nVidia GeForce Quadro NVS 140m; or
nVidia GeForce Quadro FX 570m (128mb)
Both have TurboCache, meaning both can use part of the computer's normal RAM as graphics RAM.
TurboCache does not mean integrated graphics; it means it can boost the card's performance over the dedicated 128mb Graphics RAM. -
Also, has anyone tried to turn off turbo cache on the 128MB model? Maybe the low performance was caused by turbo cache borrowing some memory from the system which become the bottle neck? -
shredman: Try the 163.44 Bioshock drivers, that's what I use on my 128mb 570M as well, and I'm not the only one they've worked out quite well for. Remember to use modded inf. 3dmark06 is about 2320.
I too would be interested to hear if anyone turned off turbo caching and what the results were.. -
I'm about to go to hit the hay, but from what you are saying there is a way to install this Forceware 163.44 driver onto XP? I would like to install more gaming-oriented drivers on a Quadro FX 570M (256 mb dedicated), as well as overcome some issues i'm having...
Also, did you install the Forceware drivers over the Lenovo Quadro drivers, or anew? Apparently the Forceware drivers alone lose some Fn + F1-9 functionality, so i'm wondering what you did there.
Lots of questions :O -

Stock 3dmark05 I got something around 5400 (no overclock) -
I wonder what you'd get with another set of drivers, after oc? Personally I'm going to stay away from overclocking just for a couple hundred 3dmarks this time around.
I overclocked the x700 in my Asus z70va 2 years ago and while I didn't push it too far, the added heat fatigue over time definitely took its toll. The T61p is a lot cooler, which is hugely refreshing, and I don't want to mess with that. -

Yea I just used the NVIDIA app built in to see what the maximum scores I could get would be. This card is kind of dissapointing, but its not too bad it handles a lot of 3D apps with ease, kind of regretting not going with the 15.4 with that 7k+ 3dmark05 score.

I am just wondering what is the real reason that makes the 128MB version perform so poor compare with the 256MB version. I know 3dmark06 tends to give 256MB card a much higher score than the 128MB ones, so it is not a suitable software to measure the difference. But if the 128MB version in normal games @1024x768 still only has 2/3 the performance of the 256MB ones, there must be something wrong. After all, they have the same chip and same memory bandwidth. So I suspect that something is disabled in the 128MB version (some of the Unified Shaders maybe?)

64bit 128mb 570's vs 128bit for the 256mb 570's
-
sigh, I don't mind the smaller video memory size, but the bandwidth really hurts the performance a lot. Bad move by Lenovo. -
-
Also, there are only two 64MB memory chips on the motherboard instead of 4 for the 256MB version, therefore it is a 32bit + 32bit = 64bits bus. -
LOL, well if this is true (and it seems to be user opinion rather than fact) than Lenovo has shot themselves in the foot again.
-
so are there any working gaming drivers for the 570m 256mb
-
the 163.44 works really well with 570M 256MB
-
I'm getting 3dmark05 scores of 5739 with 128mb T61p using 163.44 modded .inf - WITH the factory install and all the bloatware. I don't think that is too shabby at all. The best 14" performance right now.
-
the 163.44 drivers work well or better than the standard drivers?
what about for OpenGL? OpenGL apps AND games? -
Haven't tried OpenGl.
Only game I've tried is STALKER and the 163.44 work like butter! -
i only see vista and xp 64 support for the 163.44.
is this correct or can you point in the right direction?
edit. found it in their forum.
will test after driversweeper and test with opengl apps and repost later.
