    Hello all,
Having recently sold my T61--it was a little too bulky--I am planning on purchasing either a x200 or a x300. From what I gather, the x200 offers more processing power than the x300 but the x300 has a higher resolution, offers an optical drive option and is also thinner.

The dvd-burner option isn't all that significant for me; however, I am concerned about the difference in screen size and resolution. Thus, my question is how much of a difference is there, in this respect, between the two. Will it be very noticeable? For those that currently use the x200, how many windows can you comfortably have open?

I only ask because the last laptop I had before my T61 was an X31 and I actually upgraded to the T61 because of the lack of screen real estate.

One final question, what is the practical impact of the x300 being thinner than the x200. I imagine it's aesthetically more appealing but apart from that is there any advantage that I am overlooking?

Thanks for any help or advice.

    X200- 12.1" 1280x800 200-nit
    X200s- 12.1" 1440x900 LED-backlit 250-nit *
    X300/X301- 13.3" 1440x900 LED-backlit 300-nit

*- X200s may not have this display outside of the U.S. market. Not sure where you're located.

The X200s is the sweet spot, IMO. High resolution, 250-nit is plenty bright enough and smaller chassis than the X300/X301. The X200s also can be ordered with up to the 1.86GHz Intel SL9400 processor (1066MHz FSB, 6mb L2 cache) compared to the 1.4GHz SU9400 in the X301 (800MHz FSB, 3mb L2 cache).

As for weight and thickness comparisons-

    X200 with 4-cell battery- 11.6"x8.3"x0.8-1.4" and 2.95lbs
    X200s with 4-cell battery- 11.6"x8.3"x0.8x1.1" and 2.43lbs
    X301 with 3-cell/no optical drive- 12.5"x9.1"x0.73-0.92" and 2.93lbs

The X200s is .5lbs lighter than the X301 and only 0.18" thicker at its thickest point.

Those are very difficult questions to answer. They're highly subjective. They're more similar than dissimilar.

I think is going to be your most important factor unless you really want an optical drive in the x30x series.
