I just bought a R60 .... and i have a couple of questions before i open the box ..... i was just wondering if it's very durable and also the graphic card if it's good for both gaming and work related that needs alot of graphical stuff. my graphic card is a 128MB ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 HyperMemory.
also i was wondering if my laptop is worth it of getting. i got mine for $1,100 CDN.
Intel Core Duo Processor T2300 1.66 GHz, 1GB ram, 80 GB Hard Drive, 15" display, 128 MB ATI Radeon X1400 video Card, Multi-DVD Burner, Wireless a/b/g, bluetooth conection, ethernet and modem

The x1400 is a mid level card. There certainly are more powerful options, but it will depend on it what you are doing with it. The case on the r60 is plastic. It will not be as stout as the T or Z or even a Latitude for that matter. If you are not moving it much it will probably not be a big issue.

well i don't know what my opinion is worth, but i have a r60 for a couple of weeks now, and i am very pleased with it. It feels pretty sturdy to me, at least sturdier then my previous notebook witch lasted three years.
I think it's perfect for moving around the house but i wouldn't mind taking it with me to school for example.

I would take a Thinkpad R60 over any Dell inspiron/HP pavilion any day of the week.

$1100CDN? Where!? Which screen resolution did you get?

But back to you... What kind of graphics applications are you going to be using?

The R series may be made of plastic but they are as sturdy and durable as any other ThinkPad (like the T series), and they also may be a bit heavier than the T series but they are not that heavy (I carry my R51 a lot). And I also think that the R60 was worth getting.

The plastic lid on the R probably does not offer as much protection as the T, but compared to a Dell or HP it is better. It also costs more so it should be better.

x1400 is almost the best you can get from lenovo. FireGL is based on x1600. It might be better but it is quite different from normal graphic cards.
If you are not a pro gamer, it will be good for a long time.
